Hi all-
I've been having trouble with the new version of the AAMEE tool. I can make packages and that is super easy. When I upload them to my CasperShare, they will install with remote just fine, but don't install the the boot volume at imaging time.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
ryan

This may be obvious - but have you checked that the Adobe stuff is set to "This package must be installed to the boot volume at imaging time?"

Hi-
Yes, I have that box checked. It seems to copy to the boot drive and then it reboots and the install screen shows up, but then it reboots shortly after without the software being installed. I thought that the permissions might be an issue as with AAMEE 1.0 packages, but that didn't help.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks for any help.

Anything of interest there?

Are you excluding Adobe AIR in AAMEE?

Exclude air and after copying to your server make sure you repair permissions as those adobe packages are very temperamental when they don't have their permissions set right.

Just wondering: should AIR be excluded for best results? I know I had to
exclude in the past for my CS5 installs, due to issues with our proxy.
I too had trouble installing CS5.5 at boot time using AAMEE 2.1 - but
haven't had a chance to look at it very closely yet. I'm at a new company,
without the Internet proxy issues I used to have. So my initial CS5.5
packages do not have AIR excluded, but the package failed to install during
imaging - seems similar to the OP.
I'll find time next week to look at the logs, and will likely try packaging
AIR separately as well...

Creative Suite uses Adobe Air for Help content. (The same content is
accessible online but most users don't know this and don't really expect
to have to reference Help online anyway.) Adobe suggests in its Creative
Suite Enterprise Deployment guide
<http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html> that
you omit Adobe Air from the AAMEE package and then deploy it separately
along with the Help content. See page 50 of the guide for that.
Air and the Community Help files can be packaged in Composer along with a
simple shell script to install everything as one package. The guide offers
scripts to do this as well. They're done a little kludgy but work. The
process could certainly be simplified.

Ryan,
Have you been able to pull anything interesting out of the logs? I'd like to compare.
I'm actually struggling with an AAMEE package of Design Premium I made (though my Design Standard is fine). I can't get mine to install with either Imaging or Remote. I get junk like this...
installer: The install failed (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
or
Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112 UserInfo=0x10063f630 "An error occurred while running scripts from the package “CS5_5 Design Premium_Install.pkg”." {

Hey folks,
Well I've tried all the suggested processes and can't seem to make the
AAMEE packages deploy on reboot. I've removed Air and Acrobat packages,
and that didn't seem to help. They do however, install just fine with
remote. I was really hoping to make them install during imaging, as that
would save our techs needing to worry about installing afterward. Has
anyone been able to get them to install on reboot?
I'm sure that I can make a policy to install the packages, and it's
looking like that might be the way to go.
Thanks for any input.

Force AFP?
Posted on 11-07-2011 10:55 AM
Hey-
We only use AFP in our test environment, so it was using AFP. Not sure at
this point. I send a support request to JAMF.
Thanks for all your suggestions. :)

Hi-
I have been able to push out AAMEE 2.1 packages with Remote just fine. It's only when instructed to install at FirstRun. Turns out, the package isn't being copied to the target drive. I have a support ticket open with JAMF. I'll keep the list posted. I'm working on 10.6.8 with JSS 8.22.
Have you tried chown(ing) the drive with the casperadmin user after you put the package on the CasperShare? That was and might still be an issue, as Adobe does weird things with permissions.
Cheers,
ryan

Hi,
We were able to Install Adobe CS5.5 Design Premium with Acrobat (Removed AIR) package at imaging time. Used AAMEE 2.1 to package.
We use three packages in order as below:-
1. Adobe CS5.5 Package (AAMEE 2.1)
2. AIR 3.0 and CHC 3.5 Package
(http://managingosx.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/updating-adobe-help-for-cs5/)
3. Disbale Internet access from CHC package
(http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84992.html).
"This package must be installed to the boot volume at imaging time" option is selected for all 3 packages.
Casper Suite 7.31 on 10.6.8.
Thanks & Regards,
Karthikeyan
