Okay I have setup apple classroom on multiple teachers devices in our school district. We have it functioning in several classrooms. However I have one teacher that all students are showing offline. I have made sure that she is a teacher in school.apple and I have double checked her device to make sure that her device received the education profile. I am at a loss if anyone could point me in the right direction to start looking.

Udate iOS to newest? We did discover one iteration of iOS 10 where this was an issue, I think it was 10.0.1

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Our students love to disable Bluetooth to disappear from Classroom.

Yes to Bluetooth, on the teacher device too. Hers being off is more likely than ALL the student devices being off though.
Also FYI once they are all Bluetooth ON (which is the default at activation) , you can restrict their ability to change that setting using a configution profile

Oh, and of course she needs to be the assigned teacher in her Class in your JSS (jamf pro server)

One of our teachers had a similar issue and I discovered that the Classroom app version was not up to date. I had to force the update from within JSS to 1.1.2. I haven't heard back from the teacher so no news is typically good news, but I will follow up to see if she is still seeing students offline.

I am having the same issue with one student in a classroom. That student is showing up as offline using unmanaged iPads. When the student goes to settings to join the class, he sees the class and can join and enter the code. The teacher sees that the student is trying to join the class, and presses to add. On the student's iPad, in settings, the student sees they are in the course for approximately 3 seconds, but then it disappears. The teachers sees the student is in the class, but as offline.
