Apple Configurator 1.7.2, can it work with iOS10?

I'm using Apple configurator 1.7.2 to deploy iPads in a primary School I help out at, but with the new iOS 10 am I going to have to start from scratch with configurator 2 or even what I'd really like to do and move them up to an MDM?

Just checked while on MacOS Sierra and the older Configurator will not even launch due to a error so that you are aware of this as well.
