Block copy of OS package failing

Not applicable

Hello all,

I've just installed Casper 5 but are having some odd quirks with imaging. For info we use a universal netboot image (running 10.4.9) to boot the Mac and run Casper as a login item.

However the first time the Mac booted, Casper behaved as follows:

Casper started and retrieved autorun info from the JSS
Casper formatted the hard disk
Casper tried to do a block copy of the OS package and failed
Casper continued and started to install the rest of the packages in the configuration (non block copy)

I cancelled Casper at this point.

I then logged out of the Mac and in again to repeat the test:

Casper started and retrieved autorun info from the JSS
Casper formatted the hard disk
Casper tried to do a block copy of the OS package and failed
Casper then formatted the disk again
Casper then did a non-block copy of the OS package and the rest of the packages in the config.

How can I tell Casper not to use block copying?

As a side issue Casper crashed at then end of imaging as the logs were being written back to the JSS with an error message of "An exception of class StackOverflowException was not handled. The application must be shut down."

Thanks,

James

You can prevent Casper from block copying by creating a file in Casper.app/Contents/Resources/ called NoBlockCopy. If this file exists then Casper will revert to the slower method but does work reliably. I'm hoping to come back to the problem and get the block copying working in the future however...

Hope this helps,

James
