Just found this out the hard way…
If you're distributing a package that is signed (code signing certificate) and the client machine doesn't have the entire certificate chain (e.g. Root Cert and Intermediate Cert) the install will not occur. Install.log will show "<package name> was not trusted." So, if you get those errors, dead give away is the trust chain that needs fixin'.
