Has anyone taken the Certification Course for Casper? What did you
think of the Course? Did you find it helpful your environment?
Thanks

I took the course last year and it was fabulous! I learned more then I
could imagine. The test at the end was very hands on and real life
organized and not a remember these type of questions test.

I took the CCA course after using Casper Suite in my environment for about a year. I thought that was great because I went into the course knowing some of the problems I had encountered and was familiar with the basics already. -Nathaniel

I have just recently taken the course at the end of May after using Jamf in a pilot environment for about 6 months. I got quite a bit out of the course including some good best practices that I had been breaking :) I came back to my environment with a whole new look at it and retooled a few things to make it much smoother.
Being hands on with it, you learn a lot, but the CCA course definitely makes things gel together a bit more. The test is straight forward, no trickery and fully real world in that you can use any notes or documentation you have.
Taking the course in Minneapolis at Jamf's HQ was probably icing on the cake because you get to meet a lot of the folks who put their hard work into the product. Very much worth it.

I went last summer after using it for 1 year. They corrected my bad habits.

I haven't taken the CCA recently, I took it way back when with Nathaniel Lindley and John Wetter, but even then it was very helpful in establishing your understanding of enterprise based management for the Macs even if you had experience with the system. Making sure you understand scheduled tasks and policies. Making sure you understand the core concepts. I found it to be very helpful. It's probably even more important now as the feature set grows within the suite so you have a focused opportunity to get your questions answered when you're there.

Cynthia,
I just took the CCA course ~6 weeks ago in Minneapolis and found it to be
very helpful. There are so many little things to know and just about
everyone taking the course (along with JAMF Master Wudi) has at least one
way of dealing with specific imaging and management problems and
procedures. Highly recommended!

JAMF
Send me to England I will train them! Seriously, I will!
I had to laugh at Master Wudi, sounds like a Jedi or something...
Anyway, yes, it is very beneficial. In fact, my 2 cents on the subject
is try out Casper for at least 6 months if you can and get a feel for
it. Then go to the CCA course knowing the basics and they will help you
shape your advanced skills. It is also good for the basics too, don't
get me wrong. I just think you would benefit from the CCA course more
if you had about at least 6 months with the Casper Suite first. That
way they can polish your basics and then really help you out where you
are lost, frustrated or confused on.
I took it after using it for a year because I work for a school system
and getting out during the school year is tough, those of you that work
in schools know that. I can say that it most benefited me by taking
what I already knew about the Casper suite and then taking it to the
next level and then of course fixing my bad habits. Which I did have a
few bad habits.

Or some sort of DJ or Rap star...
They could send me as well, no problem there.

I think Tom's recommendations are good. The CCA course might be a tad
overwhelming if you take it before you have some time to play with the
Casper apps.
