I need help converting a local home directory to an active directory. I use casper for all of our networking and imaging of systems. As soon as I bind to the active directory and then pull down the home directory from the server, it overwrites the old home directory erasing all of its contents. I am trying to make this user a admin, mobile, managed and not just local.
Now from reading around, I have seen that there is a process of deleting the user and keeping all of the home directory components (renaming it something else). Then binding to the active directory and pulling down that users home directory. I know that you must then erase the new home directory and then rename the original home directory back to the original name. When I do this, I get all these permission errors. I cannot see any of the user contents.
Can someone please explain the terminal commands needed to convert this from local to an active directory that is an admin, mobile, managed and not just local. Then the process to fix the permissions so that this user can access all of the contents from the original home directory. The whole point is so I can convert this without erase all of the contents of the original users home directory. I have been extremely frustrated trying to figure this out and would love some help with this.
