Can anyone tell me what sysprep tool to use to prepare the win 7 vm for mass deployment. I can't seem to put my hands on the correct tool to generalize the answer file.

You need to use the WAIK. If you have done sysprep from XP they have moved to an xml file.http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5753
