Downloading OS X Lion for imaging

I did see the earlier thread about compiling Lion for imaging, but it didn't
address a very basic question I have: is it better to purchase the USB
installer for Lion for use with Composer, or can I extract the installation
files from the App Store download and use them on another machine with
Composer?

Agreed. Everything that I have read basically says that the DMG file is the
same and can be used on multiple computers.

You need to be conscious of Thunderbolt.

You should be able to do either. I don't think there is any actual difference between the DMG file on a USB drive versus the App store purchase.

If I am wrong please correct me.
