EA to show spans-displays for assigned user

One person assigned per Mac, is there a way to capture the scals-displays for the user assigned to the Mac?

This EA doesn't work if nobody is logged in when recon runs:

#!/bin/sh
spans-displays=`defaults read com.apple.spaces spans-displays`
echo "<result>$spans-displays<result>"

However we have ARD field 1 set to show the assigned user, how can we have this script pull that setting for the assigned user?
