We are about half way through our summer imaging project and due to how we set it up I had to set the JSS info on the client by IP address. Well, in my network IP addresses can and will change so we try to do everything by domain.
If I write a simple policy that just replaces the /etc/jamf.conf with the domain name of the JSS instead of the IP, will it work? I know I could always recon them, but if I have the machine in front of me it would take a few seconds to edit that file, or write a simple Casper policy that just replaces that file with the domain name instead of the IP. We had some issues running recon last year so I thought just editing that one file would do the trick perhaps better?
Thoughts?
