From @jordan.lindstedt:

Dear Brad, I hope this email finds you well! I’m letting all current customers know that the price of our Training Pass (unlimited training courses for one year) has increased from $6,400 to $9,500. However, we’re letting all current Training Pass owners take advantage of the previous price ($6,400) from now until the end of the year. What this means is you can pre-pay for as many years of the Training Pass as you’d like, and save $3,100 on each pass! The Training Pass allows anyone on your staff to take as many of our Certification courses they want (as well as Apple courses) in a year. Due to the increasing demand of training, we’re looking to offer even more Certification classes in 2016! If you are interested in locking in the discount, please let me know! Thanks for your time, Jordan Lindstedt JAMF Software Inside Sales Specialist – Commerical West jordan.lindstedt@jamfsoftware.com Direct: (702) 690-0386

The baseline price of a single class is $2,500. Currently, the training pass will "pay for itself" if it is used for three sessions ($7,500 > $6,400).

If the training pass is now $9,500, that means the base price of the classes must be going up to $3,000 or even $3,200. With that, maybe they can afford to have a closed-network Mac Pro with 12 VMs in the classroom for exams. In both my CCT and CCA classes, we had recurring issues with the Wi-Fi, and a datacenter in Chicago went offline during our CCA exam, causing replication issues like policies not appearing after we'd created them.

Hi,
It looks like you've received early notification about an impending change to the price of the Training Pass. The Training Pass is just finishing up it's second year and as we learn how organizations use it we make adjustments to ensure that it continues to be a viable product for us to offer.

  1. Single seat costs for JAMF Software classes; CCT, CCA, CCE and CJA will be $2,500 USD.

  2. We will be releasing an Training Pass that will be available for an individual to purchase at $4,500 USD. This will be available soon.

On another note, we feel your pain in regards to network issues in classrooms and we are working hard to reduce or eliminate this issue.

Regards,
Dusty Dorey

Excellent news on all fronts. The classroom issue needs to be a priority to ensure that no student feels cheated because of a factor beyond their control.

Has anyone else requested individual training passes before? @adam.dusick was certainly surprised when I asked to buy one for myself and my wife.

I actually just recently sort of made such a request.

I was just last week explaining to our Account Executive that the Training Pass was near impossible for us because of the way my company handles training book-keeping. Each person is allotted a certain dollar amount in training, so a multi-user training pass is almost a non-starter without creating a whole new training policy.

A single user training pass actually fits into current policy, if not a bit worse of a deal.

Now if only they would let us test out of the CCT course.

This. Please, JAMF?

@nkalister How did you get CCT and CJA, but not CCA or CCE?

nkalister

I took the CJA a long time ago. JAMF didn't really have hard requirements for the classes back then, so I was able to take (and pass) the CJA as my first class.

Hi @bradtchapman The CJA course contains a standalone curriculum that covers a much smaller scope of topics. This course is not designed in conjunction with other classes as the CCT, CCA and CCE are.

We have recommended skill prerequisites that we strongly encourage people be aware of. For more information on the CJA

Thanks for clarifying that Dusty, I thought there were formal requirements for the CJA as well these days, but I guess not! :)

How about just making the exams available with out the training courses? At reasonable prices? Have your JAMF partners provide a room to do the test ala prometric/pearson

F paying 10k to get some Casper desktop support certs - gotta be the most expensive certs in the industry?? maybe VCP or CCIE come close?

@calumhunter I don't think you caught all of the information from earlier in the post.

1) Single seat costs for JAMF Software classes; CCT, CCA, CCE and CJA will be $2,500 USD.

2) Training Pass for use by anyone in at the organization will be $9500.

3) Training Pass for an individual will be $4,500 USD. This will be available soon.

With that information the most that a single user would pay is $4500 if you are doing it right.

The $6,400 training pass was frankly too good of a deal and easily exploitable to gain far more in value than the cost by sticking a butt in every seat they could. The $4,500 single user Training Pass is an excellent go between to still allow for affordable single user certification while allowing JAMF to make the multi-user training pass a deal that is more equitable for them and still fair to the users.

Nothing happening here is bad news to my ears. It IS slightly less good of a deal for your average company training multiple users, but this is actually a windfall for a company attempting to only train up one person which some places were using the old training pass for.

Yep,

We took advantage of it, some months we had people in classes every week : ) It's a lot of money for some organizations but it's still a steal at the real value of the training...
