how to disable apple intelligence and chatgpt in macOS 15.1 using jamf pro

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

So with the concern of data being send to chatgpt, how do we disable Apple Intelligence and chatGPT integration using JamfPro (Cloud) in macOS 15.1?

Best answer by AJPinto

The ChatGPT function is not being added until 15.2, and there is a key in 15.2 Beta 1 that disables ChatGPT. Check AppleSeed for IT, the notes for 15.2 have the key and how to use it.

A bit later on in the 15.2 beta Apple will publish the keys here.

The three ones for macOS are already integrated in the Payload "Restrictions". I guess the other ones will follow soon.

Have you tested this yet yourself? I am trying to block the AI feature on our Macs for the time being and have unticked all three boxes. The config profile is being distributed but does not seem to have any effect on that feature. It stays enabled on my test mac and shows no message like other areas "This setting has been configured by a profile"

ChatGPT integration will be available only on 15.2 as it in beta stage , it can’t discuss in this forum , join in the Appleseed private channel to discuss about the beta

I downloaded and imported them, but nothing is shown in the profile, am I doing something wrong?

I can use the built in restriction but there is a bug with the majorOSdefer that makes this more difficult on the long run.

We are seeing the same thing in our Jamf Pro instance

I installed 15.2 Beta 4 on my work mac. I have been instructed on disabling AI on all of our macs. How do i get this configured into Jamf Pro? I found the settings above but it does not disable or remove it from Settings.

You can deploy a custom payload for com.company.application domain, it should disable all available Apple

Intelligence features:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>allowExternalIntelligenceIntegrations</key> <false/> <key>allowExternalIntelligenceIntegrationsSignIn</key> <false/> <key>allowMailSummary</key> <false/> <key>allowGenmoji</key> <false/> <key>allowImagePlayground</key> <false/> <key>allowImageWand</key> <false/> <key>allowWritingTools</key> <false/> </dict> </plist>

What do I put in for this:
com.company.application?

com.apple.applicationaccess worked in our testing.

I tried using the above plist and com.apple.applicationaccess, but my test machines still have access. They are scoped correctly so I don't know what's going on. I tried the other method of setting restrictions and unchecking the features, but that didn't work either.

I am having the same problem with my test MacBook pro.

I suspect that once Jamf Pro 11.12 comes out, we will have more advanced options to disable AI. We need to disable AI due to HIPPA compliancy.

Where do you still have access? In System Settings?

Do you it configured in Restricted Software?

I'm having the same issue I opened JAMF Pro Support Ticket.

This payload does work by itself, but be careful if you already have any Restrictions profiles defined. These keys were already present and set to true on our hosted Jamf Pro 11.12 and it looks like they were added in automatically with the default values. This led to some inconsistent results if both profiles are scoped. So the good news is that all of this is now available in the standard Restrictions type payload in Jamf Pro, which is where we try to keep most things defined under a single profile to keep it simple.

Hi,

Does anyone have a working setup for completely disabling the AI for a lab environment? I've tried the plist from @Rokas above but it doesn't seem to work for us. Students are being presented with the Apple AI setup dialogue on every login (they have no roaming libraries), we basically just want to turn the whole lot off for now.

Rokas' plist should work, but all Apple intelligence features are automatically enabled by default in the Restriction Configuration profiles as soon as they are available. You must also uncheck the boxes, otherwise it will be reactivated. Did you check on it?

I don't like the way, Jamf design the restriction profile.
Make sure that only one restriction profile is assigned to a Mac.

Unfortunately, several restriction profiles don't build on each other, but it is rather a gamble which restrictions will work in the end.

Ah .. I'm not sure I do have a restrictions profile I didn't realise I needed that on top! If I remember right that's the one that sets up pages and pages of settings so I think I've always avoided it, looks like it's time to go through it thank you

Sorry forgot to mention preference domain is

com.apple.applicationaccess

And make sure you also have it restricted in jamf GUI profiles as now they introduced it, so my custom profile is not mandatory to use.

I would love to know if you have had success with this. I'm in a similar situation: setting up a new Sequoia lab and the AI popup (and "Welcome to Mac" screen) at every login is not ideal.

Actually I may have figured this out while typing this reply: If you don't have success with the restrictions profile, check your Prestage Enrollment for the lab Macs. Make sure the Intelligence box is checked (so the setup pane is skipped) under Setup Assistant Options.
