How to package MS Office 2008 update

Not applicable

We have downloaded the MS Office 2008 update 12.2.0 from MS site and
dragged the mpkg file to Casper Admin for deployment, but when we deploy
the update on to a test machine it errors out: The install failed (The
installer could not install the software because there was no software
found to install) anybody has any idea, what it means?

The 12.2.0 update is a combo update for versions 12.1.0 and later. You must
have at minimum 12.1.0 installed before 12.2.0 can be applied.

Also, if your Office install has been modified, such as using a tool like
Monolingual to remove extra languages, then updates will fail. This page has
more information <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/install_update.html>.

Hope this helps!

One thing I've found is that Composer doesn't package up the receipts that the Office installers drop. You may need to manually deploy those receipt files for the 12.2 update to successfully go forward. If you look at the installer log, you'll likely get errors as such.
