i5/i7 netboot and imaging woes

Not applicable

Hey guys, hoping someone out there can set me straight here...

First of all, are any of you having any luck with the new 10.6.3 retail
disks booting anything with an i5/i7 processor? I expected it to be able to,
but we're having no such luck.

We're trying to get our load process squared away for the new i5 hardware.
Here's what I've done so far:

  1. Created a new NetBoot from an i5 MacBook Pro (enabled root, set to autologin, casper imaging as a login item)
  2. Re-installed 10.6.3 from the gray hardware disks that came with the i5
  3. Captured the never-booted i5 image as an Operating System package with Composer

I went ahead and enabled the NetBoot and made it diskless, and it seems to
be booting everything just fine. However when I try and install a
configuration, it skips over the block copy and tries to install every
configuration as a packaged based installation...

Would someone be kind enough as to let me know what you guys are doing for
this new hardware?

Any help would be much appreciated, I'm just frustrated at this point...

Thanks,
Bob

This may be considered cheating but... since I only have had to deploy a
couple of these things I'm just using our regular 10.6.3 image and having
Casper Imaging install a pre-release 10.6.4 on top. Of course this
requires an apple developer account. I'm not endorsing running
pre-release software in production, but its working and we'll just run the
revisioner and update them to 10.6.4 final when its out.
