iPad Backup Image iOS7

After several attempts to create an iOS7 restore image for new iPads, using iPad Mini's and iPad 2's I have yet to create a restore image that get's rid of all of the setup questions. I can eliminate several questions but not all of them like I've done in the past. Has anyone else been able to get rid of the setup questions entirely with a backup (restore) image, when setting up a new iPad? If so, PLEASE share some steps.

Thanks,
Chuck

Hey Chuck, Have we tried creating a backup with a device running iOS 7.0.2? I did some testing with a backup from a device on 7.0.2 and it seems to be fixed. It's bringing me to the homescreen from a supervised and unsupervised backup. iPad Mini 7.0.2/Apple Configurator 1.4.

Seeing the same issue.

@Keanton
Was it working properly when you restored the backup to another iPad other than the one you captured the back up from?

@jimlee Good question! I was limited to 1 iPad Mini so I wasn't able to test that. Although annoying, after the restore is finished and you're at the setup screen, power the device off and on and the steps should go away.

Since the update to Configurator 1.4, I've been unable to create a backup of any iOS 7 device. I haven't tested this with iOS 6 devices (as it won't really help me anyway), but the previous workflow of "create a backup that was already done with setup" no longer applies. It seems I have to manually go through the activation steps for now.

Configurator's inability to create an iOS 7 backup (tested on several different devices, of different makes and models) seems like a bug to me, and worth filing a complaint at bugreport.apple.com. The more complaints they get, the higher priority this will receive.

I can make backups I just can't do a restore without having some setup screens to go through. I have to swipe once to get past "Hello", I have to setup location services, and then I have to click on "Get Started" All of which were completed in the initial creation of the backup. I've used every mobile device there is to create the backup, and have restored to every mobile device ever released.

I'm sure it's a bug. BTW the power off trick does work, so there is some hope.

Interesting side note. When I exported my supervised backup, AC 1.4 does not add the .iosdevicebackup extension to the file name. Therefore you have to manually add that extension to the filename before you can import it into another computer running AC 1.4

Did they ever fix that issue in iOS 6 where if you captured an iOS 6 backup with more than 40 or so apps and went to restore it to another device it would power the device off? If it wasnt, maybe we could use something like this? lol

Yes, I've seen the same thing with AC 1.4 as nmcspadden, I can't create a backup of an iPad running IOS7. I can create a backup of an IOS6 iPad, then restore it as I update to IOS7. This is the only way I can update my students supervised iPads to IOS7 AND keep management working.

We also see the WiFi network and location services pages after restoring a backup of another device on 7.0.2 and using Config 1.4, which is silly since we can't push the wifi profile that has the password (saving us from typing it over and over) until getting past these screens. I tried restarting after restore as I've seen suggested elsewhere. Didn't work.
