jamfHelper "issues"

hey gang,

when using jamfHelper before or after a policy runs (we use to to inform users of installations kicking off and then ending) we get odd behavior on our I/O devices:

+ all mouse clicks are interpreted as right-clicks
+ keyboard input is just cancelled and won't respond

sometimes, but not always, after about 5min, everything returns to normal.

we do a fullscreen message at the start of a policy. then, i'm killing the jamfHelper process before displaying another, smaller jamfHelper "utility" window alert, requiring the user to click OK.

anyone else seeing this shizz or know how to avoid it? it's happening in 10.6.8 and 10.7.2 but NOT in 10.5.8. we're on JSS v 8.22

cheers,

I'm noticing this too. I've seen it happen on 10.5 and 10.6 machines. It happens randomly when I go into fullscreen mode with the jamfHelper then kill it. So i'm sticking with the "hud" window for now.

issue solved: we needed to kill the jamfHelper process at the end of each message alert unless a user does it by clicking "OK".

case closed.
