You've just inherited a new group of 500 Macs. Now what? Well, do their software licenses match those you have on record? Are their copies of Adobe Photoshop part of the Creative Suite, or are they standalone licenses? Do they have any illegally installed software? Software ID (SWID) Tags can help you get to the bottom of those tough questions. Adobe has included SWID Tags with their software since CS4, and Microsoft has announced they will also begin including SWID Tags in their products. This session will explain the purpose of SWID Tags as part of IT asset management, how they work, and how to use them with the Casper Suite for license reporting.
Join your hosts: Jody Rodgers - all around great guy and Senior Product Manager at Adobe
and Ryan Yohnk, another great guy and also one of the Software Architects working on the next edition of the Casper Suite.
This Session was inspired by William Smith in this post: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/featureRequest.html?id=648 earlier this year. Bill 'talkingmoose' was originally going to join us for the session.
If you'd like to learn more before you 'get tagged' and we sit down to talk SWIDs check out:
