A few things I've noticed, Didn't know if this will help or harm some of your plans:
* Filevault
o After the "upgrade" I couldn't encrypt because: "some disk formats don't support the recovery partiion required by encryption. To use encryption, reinstall this version of Mac OS X on a reformatted disk." Please note, this was a machine 100% fresh from Apple that I ran the upgrade on!
o I created a Lion DVD and installed from scratch. Although I was met with 3 different errors that "lion could not be installed. Please call AppleCare", I eventually got past. After that I was able to encrypt.
o Anyone found a way to backup the recovery to the JSS and not to Apple? Not sure why Apple would place that burden on their helpdesk either.
o It's nice that getting through the encryption ties to user accounts, however whichever one you use, it will automatically logon to that account. Big security flaw for us.
* Active directory binding
o Using Directory Utility, I couldn't get this to work. I was using the exact same information that is already stored in the JSS
o I used Casper Remote to bind, and all was successful.
* Exchange integration
o Using system preferences I tried syncing my Exchange information all with Zero luck
o Installed office 2011 and had no issues with Outlook (although it did redirect to our web email instead of our exchange sever)
Haven't touched Lion Server, from the sounds of it, I may not want to.
