So we are still plagued by this /private/var/current loop and I'm resetting a couple computers a week for this. I was wondering is there a way to make a self service that will prompt a user from a working machine for an asset tag, then find the machine based on that tag and run a script to remove the current file and reboot the non-working machine, just so I dont have to get involved every time?

What's the nature of the original problem? I'm not familiar with it. Is it explained in another thread somewhere perhaps?
Instead of attempting to make a Self Service policy do something it wasn't designed to do, maybe you should look at trying to correct the original issue, but perhaps you did that already. Just trying to understand.

I know how to fix it, but for some reason it keeps rearing it's head at a particular site. I actually ended up fixing about 5 machines this morning at a site, I checked log files and none had any pushes or anything, so i don't know what to look at to fix it.
