I’m working on a computer currently that is having logon issues with one users account.

The user logs into the computer it tries to login then goes back to the login screen.

Has anyone ever seen this error and knows a fix?

Sometimes incompatible login items can cause the problem. You can try logging in while holding Shift. Alternatively, you can boot up in Safe Mode and remove the bad login item(s).

Delete this file

/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.security.plist

After that, can you then log in?

Random Thought: is the account linked to MS Active Directory? If yes, is there a Password Limit value?
<we have a 60 day password limit.. if the user doesn't change the password every 60 days, then AD will deny access on day 61>
When logging into a Macbook, the logon screen just resets and asks for credentials, again and again and again ..

Hi @all:

In most cases, this issue will be faced, if the Mac is bounded to a Windows domain and the useraccount is a "mobile" account.
There is a script to convert the account to a local account and remove the Macs binding to the Windows domain. After running this script, the issue is gone. For us, there is not really a advantage to bind a Mac to a Windows Domain, so the release of the binding will not cause any problems. To change the users password in the windows envoirement, we are using NOMAD.
The advantage of that script is, that the security token of the useraccount will not be changed, while the convert to the local account. All what the user maybe has to do, is to re-enter a password from the windows world to store it in the local keychain.
