Long upgrade times?

I've noticed a significant increase in machine upgrade times to HS. I upgraded an iMac with a 3TB Fusion drive, that ran almost 11 hours. No APFS upgrade due to the fusion. A 2012 Mac mini server with dual ssd's (no APFS conversion) took 9hours. A 2015 MBAir ran over 3hrs and then froze (maybe I wasn't patient enough with that in light of these other times) and no won't boot..

How can we offer an in-place upgrade with down time like that?

I upgraded three device. A 5K iMac, a 2012ish Mac mini and a MacBook Air. The longest was about 45 minutes with a couple of restarts.

... well, that's odd. I opened a ticket with apple on it... will see if they can shed some light.
