M1 Mac Mini as a Caching Server - Packet Loss

Is anyone using one of the new M1 based Minis as a caching server ? We have been experimenting with one, but it seems to sleep. I do have "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" checked. Display is set to turn off after 10 minutes. Wake for network access is also checked. I also wanted to test it as a package distribution point. I created an SMB share. When I connect to that share via My MacBook Pro it will connect, but every once in a while it drops the connection. (Interrupted error). The M1 Mini and the MacBook are both running. 11.2.1. Is anyone using one of these units as a package distribution point ?

This is almost turning out to be an issue with packet loss with machines running Big Sur. Tried the same thing with a 2014 Intel Mac mini running Big Sur and the same sort of results. They seem to just drop packets here and there.
