This is something I've thought of for a long time... and maybe it's a bit over the top, or too much to ask. I'm wondering if anyone around here tries to maintain a clean package receipt database on all of their machines. jamf pro obviously keeps track of receipts, but most of the time, the receipts are not removed or updated when a software title is uninstalled or upgraded on a machine. Could this lead to potential reporting issues in the future? Is there an easy way to automate the removal (pkgutil --forget) of orphaned receipts? Is there a way to get a list of recipts that are no longer associated with an installed package? Does it matter at all? What is the meaning of life?
