MDM Profile Unable to Install

Hello,

A laptop was recently deployed to an end user and when the user attempts to install the MDM Profile, it prompts her for a username and password since she is not an admin.

There is a local admin account that was created by the pre-stage enrollment but it's not accessible.

I can see the laptop within Jamf Pro but cannot push any changes.

Are there any suggestions on how to proceed since she's not an admin on the computer?

sound like you have a stand alone machine and try to user enroll it?
then you need admin to install the MDM profile.

Nope, you will either need to provide her with the local admin account, walk her through reinstalling macOS in recovery mode, or recall the device.

If the device went through Automated Device Enrollment, and created a local admin account, it should have the MDM Profile already installed. The MDM Profile installs before the local admin account is created.

You really want to deploy devices one of two ways.

  • Deploy them fully configured.
  • Deploy them before macOS has been activated so the user can enroll the device with Automated Device Enrollment.

Anything in between just causes a lot of problems for you and the user.

Thank you both for chiming in...oddly enough when I checked in with the user, the laptop did indeed have that profile already installed...it just appears stalled and not completing our enrollment process as shown below. So still curious why on the management tab there is no data (second screenshot).
