Methods for backing up iPad app data?

I just want to start a discussion about how others are managing the backing up of iPad app data for their managed iPads. We have a bunch of apps that can only be backed up by connecting to the iPad to iTunes manually with a USB cable. It becomes very cumbersome, especially since you can only connect the same iPad to up to 5 authorized computers.

How are others handling iPad app backups?

I suggest that you select apps that can sync/backup to DropBox or Google. In our school district we have over 2,900 iPads so there is no way that I could back up data via iTunes. We had to select many of our apps with this in mind. Even so, we have experienced data loss for users that neglected to enable sync/backup within apps like Notability.
