Hello All,
I ran into an interesting situation while trying out the new method of Dual
Boot imaging in Casper 7.1..
In Casper 6.1 I had been using NetInstall sets to image our Intel machines
and had a script that would run initially to split the hard drive into two
partitions before the other process ran.
Now that we have upgraded to Casper 7.1 (running on a 10.6.2 server), I
thought it would be handy to use the new integrated technology for imaging
dual boot Macs.
We are no longer using the NetInstall sets but have switched over to using
Netboot images once again. These overall fit our environment much better by
allowing better remote access and such..
The setup of the dual boot procedure looks incredibly simple, and I believe
it will be once I get past this one hiccup. Right now when I try to deploy a
dual boot configuration, the initial step of splitting the hard drive is
failing. I have tried many different combinations of drive sizes and format
type just for comparison, and always the same result.
To troubleshoot it further I had tried running my old method and executing a
'Split Had drive' script I had previously used, and to my surprise that
failed as well.
My first thought is it may come down to the way Netboot images execute
scripts versus the way NetInstall sets handle them.
I am able to manually split the drive manually entering the script in
Terminal, which also leads me to believe it's in the way the Netboot is
trying to execute the script or procedure from Casper Imaging.
Has anyone messed with this much yet? Any thoughts?
