Netboot - New MacBook/MacBook Pro

Not applicable

Guys,

I am finding that when I attempt to netboot a new MacBook or MacBook Pro, I get a Kernal Panic.
I can only assume it is due to the image I am netbooting from is running X.6.2 rather than X.6.4.

Thoughts ???

Your new machine won't be able to boot an older version of 10.6 than it shipped with, so yes, that's your problem.

Hi Andrew,

It's funny how when I work late I see Australia posts come in. :)

If the OS you're NetBooting off of is older than the OS that shipped with the Mac, all bets are off. We always create a new NetBoot image when new hardware is released. This way it'll boot the new hardware, and it's backwards compatible so it'll boot older hardware that is compatible with the OS. Our NetBoot image is now at 10.6.4 (10F2521). You'll also need to update your BaseImage and Restore image as well.

We typically have NetBoot running a flavor of a pre-released OS point release. Right now it is running an early 10.6.5 release so that we can boot the mid-2010 MacPros and iMacs without issue.
