When I image a computer and enter username and password for a mobile user,
it doesn't apply the user template for preferences and whatnot. I have
triple checked that the box is checked to Fill User Templates in the admin,
I know it is copying to the user template as well
because if I create a local user it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks

Network users don't pull off the local template and I believe that
Casper, modifies the user template on the machine locally. I think you
may need to use MCX for network users.
What is it exactly are you trying to do?

What type of network account? Active Directory or Open Directory?
Do you use user homes on the server with Open Directory?

I believe that this is what is happening:
On each Mac client you deploy, there is a template home folder [to which Casper will happily apply updates so new users get the desired settings]. When you create a new local user, the template home folder is copied and then the user is given ownership of the files.
On each Mac server, there is also a template home directory. When a network account is created, that template home folder is copied to the users home folder on the server, which is then accessed directly over the network or synchronized (depending on if you are using a pure network account or portable home directories). When you install software on your client machine, the templates are not adjusted on the server.
Methinks that one could install the software on the server as well to update the templates. I've never done it, though.

We are using OD, and no user homes. All I need is for the local user
template to be applied to all mobile users. This worked no problem before
using Casper, it would always pull from the local template.

I just spoke with JAMF the other day in regards to the local user template. By checking the fill user template folder, it is filling the Non_localized folder in "User Templates" You should make sure that the appropriate preferences are filling to this location.

OK, I tried to use the managed settings template for using local user
template when mobile user accounts are created, but it seems that isn't
working either. My guess is that I need to tell it to use the non localized
template. Can anyone tell me how I might change that setting? Can I do it by
changing the managed settings template or must I create a new one? Thanks
