The JAMF Software Beta program is now open for the Casper Suite Apple School Manager Release. This release introduces automatic syncing with Apple School Manager, along with student photo support for Apple's Classroom app and Shared iPad to improve the classroom experience and enhance teacher effectiveness. And with more than 18 completed customer feature requests from JAMF Nation, there's a lot for everyone to explore! New features in the beta build include:
- For education customers using Apple's Classroom app, student photos can be linked in the JAMF Software Server (JSS) and will display in both Apple's Classroom app and on the Shared iPad login screen.
- We've deepened our integration Apple School Manager (currently in preview with Apple) to sync Classes, Student, and Teacher users from Apple School Manager to the JSS. New integration features include:
- Link the JSS with Apple School Manager and choose the time of day for information syncing.
- Automatically import and match user information from Apple School Manager to JSS users.
- Import class information to the JSS from Apple School Manager to create new classes.
- Changes from Apple School Manager data will propagate to users and classes in the JSS.
- You voted and we listened. Over 18 feature requests from JAMF Nation were included in this release. Download the beta build and explore what's new:
- New Audit Logs in a device's inventory history display JSS events, the date/time the event took place, and the username logged into the JSS when the event occurred.
- Improved consistency across inventory fields collected through the inventory process so they can be used seamlessly in Inventory Display Preferences, Smart Groups, Static Groups, Advanced Searches and the API.
- Mobile Device and Computer MDM Commands will now be cleared during enrollment by default and all unacknowledged commands will be removed.
- Simultaneously un-manage groups of mobile devices with the new "Unmanage Institutionally Owned Devices” mass action MDM Command.
- Multiple versions of the same App can now be scoped to a device (the JSS will automatically deploy the newest version of the App to the device).
- VPP Accounts will now refresh App descriptions, names and icons once a week and users can subscribe to email warnings that a VPP token is approaching the expiration date.

Remember this is a beta release. We strongly encourage you not install this software in a production environment. Also, the beta program is operated under non-disclosure, so please do not share any information regarding your testing in any public forum including the non-beta sections of JAMF Nation. Use the JAMF Nation Beta forums or contact your JAMF buddy with any questions or reported issues regarding the beta.
