Office 2016 Mac to Windows

Hi all, My Apple business sales rep suggested coming here with some questions. Hoping you can help? Here are the situation(s) I am dealing with being the only Mac user in a Windows environment is my office. We frequently share documents on "One Drive" excel spreadsheets and PDF files. If we are editing data in a shared spreadsheet any changes made on the Mac computer are saved to a different file name for some reason example "File(whatevername)_MacMini". If I edit a PDF document or fill able form on the Mac and the file is opened on a PC the fill able fields are blank. Happy to be the odd man out on a Mac but I need to fix this somehow. Do I need some additional software?
