Reverse Engineering Jamf Admin
This blog post will cover steps to reverse engineer Jamf Admin processes to work around some bugs and poor implementations and develop your code to streamline & automate the process. For example, there are exiting tools like JSSImporter, Jamf Pro Upload Web Form that implements Jamf Admin functionality, but those tools might not meet your needs completely and you want to develop a script or code to meet your specific needs. The blog outlines tools like using a debugging proxy, debug mode, strings to uncover issues and hidden processes and share sample code on automating some steps like adding, updating & deleting an installer package in Jamf Pro and your Jamf Pro Distribution Point. Lastly, we will outline issues & bugs that we have discovered with indexing and uninstalling package contents using Jamf Pro built-in support. In the end, its too bad Jamf Pro customers need to reverse engineer its process and provide documentation when ideally it should be coming from Jamf.
