Hi guys ,

The users face a strange behavior from Self Service app , when they select a Policy to be installed and the minimize the window , the policy's installation pause( progress bar also ) and start again only when they maximize again the window of the app .

Does anyone face the same issue ?

I can't say I've seen this specific behavior happen before, but there is one thing we can check to rule out that comes to mind: App Nap.

First, we'd want to see if App Nap is even a factor by reproducing the behavior on an affected machine and, with Self Service still minimized, open up Activity Monitor » Energy » find Self Service, and look at the App Nap to see if Self Service is listed as Yes or No.

If it shows no, then we know App Nap probably isn't the issue here, but if it shows yes, the next step would to go through these steps to disable App Nap for Self Service, then re-launch Self Service specifically and see if the issue still occurs.
(Instructions condensed from this site. )

Steps to disable App Nap for Self Service only:

  1. Quit Self Service.
  2. Go to /Applications.
  3. Select Self Service, then click on the File menu and select Get Info.
  4. Under General, check the box that reads Prevent App Nap.
  5. Close out of the info window and relaunch Self Service.

At that point, try triggering a policy as the user normally would, then minimize Self Service and see if the behavior you were seeing previously is still happening.

Please let us know what you find.

Thanks!
