Setting up VPP in Jamf while also having another MDM solution

Hi all, I apologize if this question has been asked - I haven't been able to find a solution. I work for a university and we are in the process of moving off of Airwatch to Jamf. We've got about 500 devices still enrolled into Airwatch and I am slowly moving a few Macs and iPads to Jamf for testing.

The onboarding process has been extremely smooth up to integrating our VPP from ASM (Apple School Manager). My main concern is accidentally wiping apps from the devices still in Airwatch while uploading the VPP token to Jamf. Now, the steps I have followed are: In our ASM I have created a secondary location. When I go to Settings > Apps and Books > Server Tokens. I see the second location listed, however, when I go to upload the server token to our Jamf instance I am greeted with an error that says "The service token may be in use by another server. The service token can be reclaimed below for this Jamf Pro server." I am afraid to "reclaim" as this may wipe the apps from devices enrolled in Airwatch?

I may just be uneducated - Any help?

We have 2 seperate locations in ASM, with a token for each. MDM A and JAMF. Each MDM has its own Token installed in it. Then in ASM I have Apps assigned to each of the MDMs as required.

Check your Airwatch server has its correct token, If not then give it the right one, Then give your JAMF server its right token. Then in all of your apps sort through and make sure the Apps you want left on the Airwatch server are assigned to it, you can move them when you want from the lower right of the App entry in ASM. You can transfer some of the licenses to Airwatch and some to JAMF.

Don't panic about the licenses on the devices, you have 4 days to sort them out. They expire after the 4 days, unless they get a new license.
It was a daunting day when we moved from a single server token to the 2 locations, and moving everything around to get it correct. But in the end it wasn't that bad, you just need to be organised.
From what you are describing it seems like you are attempting to give both servers the same token from ASM, they should be given their own individual token.

Thanks for the reply Paul! See attached photo - I created a separate location within ASM. When I go to my VPP server token page I see the two different locations. The top one goes to Jamf whereas the second goes to Airwatch. Yet I still get the "reclaim your token prompt". Are you saying that this should not interfere with the Airwatch sToken?Screen Shot 2022-03-22 at 9.33.39 AM.png

Server tokens will be unique for each server. However if the current token is still live, has a few days left to expire, then yes you will be replacing it. The live one is the last one you downloaded for that server.

Apps will persist on the devices for 4 days, so they will continue to work. If you go into the Apps And Books content, you should see that you can transfer some or all of your licenses between the MDM servers for each app individually. If you have hundreds then you will need those 4 days to complete the transfers.

You can create a new location (under "Locations") in ABM/ASM and then that will populate a new "Content Token" that you can use on a different MDM server.
