So I have a department setting up a new area in their student clinic area. They are wanting to have an iMac and multiple iPads at this station. The instructor using the iMac and sharing its screen with the iPads. Is this possible or do you have any ideas?

Hey Chad,
I'm not sure if it would do everything you'd like, but I would check out Apple Classroom for Mac.

@matt.aebly Thank you, that is similar but the issue is I am needing the iPads to display what is on the iMac not necessarily control the iPads.

Try any number of free conferencing software packages like TeamViewer or join.me

The free version of JoinMe will only do one connection at a time now - they start you off with a trial of the full version so you can use it for a couple of weeks with multiple viewers to at least see if it works for you. We use it a lot here and it holds up pretty well. (it is cloud based so keep that in mind when scaling it)

@chadsherlock Keep an eye on Duet Display. Heres the link - https://www.duetdisplay.com/
The features you're looking for aren't available yet, but Duet is created by Ex Apple Engineers and is incredible for 1:1 scenarios. They have commented on multiple at once feature - https://help.duetdisplay.com/faq/119906-does-duet-work-with-multiple-ipads
Once (IF) this feature is available, I'm sure it will be one of the best on the market. We've got it deployed to about 1000 Macs / 1000 iPads and it works great, can't wait to see where it goes.

To clarify, the iPads need to display what is on the iMac's screen. So that the uses can see what the instructor is doing on the screen.
@Hugonaut I need it to mirror the display but I have other uses for this so thank you!!
@bvondeylen and @RobbieG Thank you, I will look into these as well.

I believe something like a VNC viewer would accomplish what you're asking, although it would require a bit of setup.

Here's an option: Use 2 Macs and Reflector Teacher software (an Apple TV emulator). Airplay from one Mac to another, and use the Reflector Student app to also view the screen on student iPads. Our district really only does this for student with vision problems. If it is on the big screen, why would we tie up the student device with a mirrored display?
