Hey Community, I have a problem with Slack, it always comes to the message that an admin password is needed for the installation of a Slack update. I think it is due to automatic updates. Does anyone have the same problem and a solution?

@S.Puschel that could happens if you are deploying Slack using packages you can use 'Mac App Store apps' instead

Is it a 'Helper' tool update prompt that is coming up? If so, we advise users to update the app via Self Service which seems to resolve the issue.

Solution = push the package via Jamf or VPP.

Sounds like this is an unmanaged app trying to update on its own.

KB from Slack: https://slack.com/help/articles/360035635174-Deploy-Slack-for-macOS#allow-users-to-update-slack

You may want to disable auto update on your clients if you are going to have your clients update via self service or Jamf policy/patch.

defaults write /Users/$USER/Library/Preferences/com.tinyspeck.slackmacgap.plist SlackNoAutoUpdates -bool YES
