Hello,
We are doing our 1 to 1 roll out this week so we're trying to get our ducks in a row. All of our students are standard users on OS 10.6.8. We are sure to have teachers that would like to have everyone in their class to have the same app from the app store. As of now when they click install it says that you need an admin name and password to allow the app store to make changes. Does anyone know of a way to let standard user download apps, or any way around it. What do you other companies and school districts do in this situation. I noticed that standard users can download music from Itunes. I also know a similar situation where we want our standard users to be able to install printers from home. In that situation you can push out a script through casper to allow it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

For app installs.. Maybe you could make the apps available through self service?
For printers.. Add the everyone group to lpadmin.

Ben.

your IT group should be managing for your users.
Applications are licensed. If your school or company owns the computers
then your IT group needs to be responsible for licensing (not the teachers
and not the students). Not allowing Standard users to install applications
is a good thing. It shouldn't be a hurdle you want to overcome.
Managing licensing means that you know your software is legal and you have
the documentation to support it in case of an audit.

Use self service or policy to roll them out. It is what I do in our 1 to 1
