Target Disk Mode Help

I am just testing out Target-Disk Mode and I'm running into an issue that I'm sure is just my inexperience with the OS X side of Casper..

When I image a Mac in Target-Disk Mode, the images and packages all come down fine, but the local account and WiFi enable script are not being run. At least I can't login with any local account in the configuration and WiFi is not enabled. Netbooting works fine.

Caper 9.72. SMB mount point.

Thanks for any help!

With the help of JAMF Support I have it figured out.

States that offline imaging will not place a management account on the computer.

  2. The WiFi script from JAMF Nation needed to have a property set for the SSID, NOT entered in the script itself. Once I did that it all worked.

At what point are the steps being run and is this Thunderbolt? With Thunderbolt, the machine in target disk mode must be of the same or higher OS than the machine connected to it. If you are running anything as a post install after the machine has reboot, if the newly installed OS is greater than the target everything else involving the target drive will fail. This is not an issue with Firewire.

TB. Target and OS are the same. I am also deleting the target drive and installing a fresh, AutoDMG, install.

I have the script set for 'Reboot'; which I'm assuming means it runs after a reboot. Not sure what 'Before' and 'After' mean in the run options.
