Time is Off Snow Leopard

Hello Happy Friday

I have a question and this kind of relates to a couple of days ago, we
received some new Mac minis and they were shipped with 10.6.2 so we
obtained the new beta netinstall creator and updated our netboot image
and image. The problem we are having is only with Snow leopard , if the
time is off on the local system we are building it doesn't get
corrected. I can also reproduce this problem with a MacBook Pro If we
intentionally change the time to make it off. But if we change the time
and build a 10.5.8 image, the image comes down and the time is correct
and joins the domain. Could this be caused because our server is not
running 10.6? We have made sure our netboot image and our build image
is correct.

Happy Friday Indeed!

Is it exactly 1 hour off? Are you near a time zone boundary? Is the "set time zone automatically using current location" box checked? If so, uncheck it and set your zone manually.

Snow Leopard has a new feature where it looks up the time zone of your external IP address, if available. If your ISP is reporting your service in a different location, it could throw your machine into a different time zone.

Just a shot in the dark...

Hope this helps!

No we can change the time 4-5 hours and it won't get corrected, we don't
have Automatic time Zone selected, neither the apple time server or our
corporate one fixes the problem.

I've seen some environments where being on a different subnet kills time sync. The network guys end up having to open the required ports on the switches, then things work again. Worth checking if time sync works on another subnet?

Does this work?

sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org

If not, can you ping pool.ntp.org?
