Unable to rename machines after imaging. OS 10.7.5, Casper Imaging 8.6

I created a new imaging configuration based on the 10.7.5 InstallESD.dmg and it seemed to be working well. We imaged about a dozen new MBPs and just this morning started to get them ready to deploy.

When we went in to change the computer name (we imaged with generic names) the field is grayed out. I am not doing anything either through profiles or MCX with regard to naming of machines. I can use Casper to push a name change to the machines after I have changed it in Inventory.

Machines are all 2012 MacBook Pros.

It's not a show-stopper but it is a bit concerning. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Follow-up, it appears that this is not related to imaging at all. All of the 10.7 machines on the network will not allow changes to be made. This points me to MCX doing something I did not tell it to do.
