Upgrading to MySQL 8 did not go as planned; question about MySQL 5.7.x going forward

Hello all,

So about a week ago I attempted to to the migration from MySQL 5.7(.19) to MySQL 8.0.18 for the JAMF upgrade.

I am not sure where I went wrong, but it did not go well. It wouldn't restore the database. I may have changed the login and password from what the original database used, so I will need to use those the next time.

However, since JAMF 10.17.1 still supports MySQL 5.7.x, I was wondering if anyone else is still using the slightly older version with newer JAMF updates? I understand, of course, that at some point, MySQL 8 will be required, rather than recommended. Hopefully when that time comes, I have all my ducks in a row to do the migration correctly, assuming it was something I did (or didn't) do in the proper order.

The Java 8 -> 11 upgrade was pretty painless, but we didn't get far enough for it to be used by JAMF.

Thanks for any insights!
