Using Jamf Pro to Manage macOS Devices for a Masters Tournament 2025 Viewing Event – Need Advice!

Hi Jamf Nation Community,

I’m reaching out to get some advice on using Jamf Pro to manage macOS devices for an upcoming event I’m organizing. I’m hosting a viewing party for the Masters Tournament 2025 (happening from April 10 to April 13 at Augusta National) for my team, and we’ll be streaming the event live on multiple MacBook Airs and iMacs in our office. I’m relatively new to Jamf Pro, and I want to ensure everything runs smoothly during the event. I’d really appreciate your insights on a few challenges I’m facing!

Here’s the context: We have about 15 macOS devices (mostly running macOS Ventura and a few on macOS Sonoma) that we’ll be using to stream the Masters 2025 via FuboTV. I’ve already set up a guide for my team on how to stream the event, which I found helpful for planning (you can check it out here if you’re a golf fan: How to Watch the Masters Tournament 2025 Live on FuboTV on my blog at masterstournament2025.wordpress.com). However, I’m running into a few issues with Jamf Pro that I’d love your help with:

  1. App Deployment for FuboTV: I want to deploy the FuboTV app to all the macOS devices using Jamf Pro. I’ve tried using the Jamf App Catalog as suggested in a post I found here (similar to what was discussed in this thread), but the app isn’t showing up as available on some devices. It seems to work fine after I open Self Service on the target Mac, but I’d like to automate this process so my team doesn’t have to manually trigger it. Has anyone faced this issue, and how did you resolve it?
  2. Jamf Recon Stalling: On one of our MacBook Air M4 laptops, I noticed that running sudo jamf recon gets stuck at “Locate Hardware Information.” I saw a similar issue mentioned in a thread on this forum (I think it was this one), but the steps there didn’t fully resolve my problem. I’ve already checked the network connection and ensured the device is enrolled properly, but it’s still stalling. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further?
  3. Managing Notifications During the Event: Since we’ll be streaming the Masters live, I want to minimize distractions by managing notifications on these devices during the event. I’d like to temporarily disable non-essential notifications (like email or Slack) on all devices for the duration of the tournament (April 10-13). Is there a way to do this via Jamf Pro? I saw a mention of using configuration profiles for notification settings in another thread, but I’m not sure where to start.

I’m using Jamf Pro 11.13, and all our devices are enrolled in Jamf Cloud. I’ve also scheduled the Jamf Cloud Infrastructure patching for April 5, 2025, as mentioned in a recent announcement on this forum, so I’m hoping that won’t interfere with our setup. Any advice or best practices you can share would be greatly appreciated! I want to make sure my team can enjoy the Masters 2025 without any technical hiccups.

Looking forward to your suggestions—thanks in advance for your help!

Best,
David Brox
