Very weird download from the JSS server

So, today I was trying to log into the JSS server to view some policy
logs, and when I typed in the manual URL for our JSS server it asked if
I wanted to download a file. Anyone ever seen this? I will attach the
file to this email and it is an .exe file. So, don't open this up on a
windows machine, I have no idea what it actually is.

Google searches yield no results at all. I zipped and attached the
file. Obviously .exe files are harmless in OS X because Unix does not
recognize them as an executable.

I just found this extremely strange.

I thought this had something to do with not typing the port number or something not complete in the address. I can't seem to do this with Leopard and the version of the JSS I have, 5.11. In other word something Tomcat.

Are you running Tiger or Leopard server?

Yes I have seen this and reported this as a bug. 8443 works best and I can
Firefox works better than safari. You can get this to happen if you do a
http://xx.xx.xx:8443 as opposed to https://xx.xx.xx:8443

John is correct!

This is also covered in our knowledge base (shameless plug, I know):

However we are seeing this in safari regardless of https or http. It will
work for a while but then if you click on a link it downloads the html or
php depending where you click. It's kind of bizarre but it happens. I
checked the url and I am using https://xx.xx.xx:8443.

Wait...there's a KB? I thought that was the support phone and email. ;)

I experienced this "html download issue" on Internet sites using Safari
on 10.5.1 at home I haven't seen it at the office yet.

If you can replicate it outside the jss, it sounds like something to
report to Apple. If you're an ADC member you can use
bugreport.apple.com. I'm not sure how to report a bug if you're not an
ADC member.

Well just an FYI...

I am using intel mac with OS X 10.4.11 and firefox 2.x and got this. never seen it before until now and it freaked me out for a second.

I have to ask though, why is tomcat pushing out an .exe file? We are a
100% mac network, so I am still failing to grasp this.

Google searching the file came up with no hits which is probably why I
didn't see your KBase article.

Thanks,
