When iOS10 drops, can I convert a non-supervised iPad to supervised?

I have about 20 iPads issued to student's which I need to change from non-supervised, to supervised.

When iOS10 drops, and when the student's install it, will the iPad somehow check in with the JSS and become supervised if I add it to a pre-stage enrollment configuration?

Not sure if this is possible.

Thanks

Not the most helpful, but you'll probably have to do what we call in our district a Futurama/Farnsworth transfer if the local data is a concern and you just can't switch devices:

Backup Device A
Restore Device A's Backup to Device B (does not belong to anyone)
Backup Device B (now with Device A's content)
Restore Device B's new backup to Device A

This can become very problematic with going from non-supervised to supervised. Though I know some have done it, Apple says you can't do this. We've seen people try and you end up with a certificate mess.

So, it's really a new setup as a 'new iPad', not a restore, through DEP to get it set up as a supervised iPad.
