About This Volunteer Opportunity Join Botanic Garden of Sydney’s (Botanic Gardens) expert Horticulture team for the morning and immerse yourself in the lush surroundings of our Living Collections. While tending to Sydney’s world-famous green space, you will be making a much-needed contribution to conservation research –protecting our plants and our future. The horticulture program at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney gives you a fascinating insider’s perspective, from discovering a vast array of plant species, through to gardening basics such as mulching, weeding, composting, and planting.    Getting here: There is street parking along Mrs Macquaries Road that is metered. The closest car park is The Domain carpark. The closest train station is St James. Where to meet: Meeting 8.50 at Woolloomooloo Gates, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Mrs Macquaries Rd Local Time: August 1, 9:00am - 1:00pm Registration: Volunteers will need to sign and return a volunteering waiver (inclusive of health and safety conditions) before commencing volunteer work.   What to Wear: The activities included will see you gardening; planting, mulching and watering amongst other activities. You may get wet and/or dirty. Please dress accordingly. All participants must wear fully enclosed shoes. Thongs, sandals, ballet flats etc. are not appropriate and will not be permitted.   What to Bring: Botanic Gardens of Sydney will provide complimentary gardening gloves. It is recommended that each participant bring their own water bottle, insect repellent, sunscreen and hat.   Food and Drink: A short break will be held around 10:30am. Botanic Garden staff will advise you of the closest on-site food and beverage options.   Contacts on the Day: If you have any issues finding us on the day, please contact Jena Ye on 02 8231 8156.   Amenities: All amenities are available within the Botanic Garden and are easily accessible.  We ask that anyone showing any flu-like symptoms (however mild) not to attend the volunteer session.
