If a certain app has a bug or a security flaw that is patched in a later version, and I want to know which Macs are still running any unpatched versions, is there no way to easily find that through advanced computer search?  Sure, I could try to export results and manipulate the spreadsheet, but seriously am I missing something?  Because that seems like it should be a very basic search function.

We have a strange occurrence and can't figure out the solution. We have an iPad that all of a sudden is locked when managed by Jamf School. It is missing the "Other Profile" labeled "Jamf School Education Profile (version:1)". We have attempted to remove the iPad from Jamf, add it back but when it's being managed by Jamf School, it is completely bricked. Home button, swipe, nothing works. Any thoughts?

What happened to Self Service Notifications? I get tons of notifications in Self Service for apps that are configured in Patch Management, saying update available, but the latest version has not been uploaded yet. We only want the notification when it is available. Is this a new "feature" or am I missing something?

Hi All, I'm fairly new to jamf and Mac Management and I have an issue that recently just happened and I've struggled to find an answer. My predecessor used Dockmaster to setup our dock icons to our deployment through a .pkg. Recently with 12.3 it's no longer working and it errors out. I haven't found anyone talking about it anywhere online so I've been stumped on why it's no longer working. Does anyone have a fix or workaround to get it working again? Currently it's installed as a package and even when making the package over again it still errors out immediately. From the little information I could find I saw a change log for DockUtil that updated something for 12.3. Is there something I need to change? I'm not familiar with DockUtil at all so if I need to figure that out to get it working again, is there any resources I can lookup so I can learn it as I'm not to great with command line stuff just yet. Thank you kindly!

I'm a sys admin of a K12 public school that is 98% mac, we have a couple of labs. A few years ago during the summer I discovered that installing OS updates and upgrades wouldn't complete with a logged in user, then later, a logged in user had to enter credentials to perform the installation. In terms of a "touchless" installation for iMacs, are there any solutions? Also, please provide detailed instructions if you have them :-)Thanks!

Hey Everyone,I've noticed with macOS Big Sur and Monterey that my Macs are taking an unusually long time to prepare an OS update before restarting and installing. I'm talking about a minimum of 45 minutes up to almost 2 hours sometimes. Yesterday on a Mac running 12.4 it took almost two hours to prep the installation from the software update panel to 12.5.1 before restarting. All of my Macs are FV2 enabled with a 50/50 mix of 2021 M1 Pros and 2019-2020 Intel's. Am I just not used to the new normal or is something going on here I'm missing?

Hi all,i  have a set of Gen7 devices that were released from DEP that now need to be used for a project.I can successfully re-enroll using an enrollment profile  with Apple Configurator.Once this is done, the record in jamf shows institutional device, supervised  and managed.On the device, however, there’s a Red link on both the mdm and cert. to Remove the profile.I seem to recall there is a window of time that allows this.1. is there a way to enroll where the profiles cannot be removed?2. If no, how long is that window before the profiles cannot be removed. thanks for any insight you might have!

I have turned on debug logging in Jamf Pro Server Logs but it does not log any *saml* events there to help with the investigation. Any pointers?

After some research, it seems that Jamf recon is getting hung up on locating hardware which is because this setting is enabled.Collect available software updatesThere seems to be a Jamf PI issue on this.We have two workarounds.Run this command before the recon command:sudo launchctl kickstart -k system/com.apple.softwareupdated2. Disable this setting until Jamf fixes this issue.If you are using this setting in your Jamf please report this to Jamf so they can fix this faster.

Hi Everyone,Local accounts created using the local account policy does not seem to work on Catalina.  the policy runs and creates the account fine however it does not show on login screen and just shakes if you try login using other.has anyone else come across this issue? thanks    

Just wondered if anyone knows of any way to get reports (that could be used in an audit for example) to verify MacOS device wipes initiated from within JAMF Pro? It doesn't look like this functionality exists within the product but wanted to check.We also tested device wipe using a solution from Blancco, however, while it does generate comprehensive reports, it does so prior to the wipe actually executing, meaning the report cannot be relied upon. It wasn't worth the additional effort to deploy a separate solution in that case. Many thanks.  

Does anyone have any tricks or scripts to take a Jamf Summary and put it into a spreadsheet?  The inconsistent formatting (inconsistent spaces or periods) makes it hard to just import it.  There are a number of long standing feature requests to clean up the output but those have not been addressed yet.

Hi friends,I'm working on a new first boot sequence for our org; in the past, I've used dockutil and duti to set the appropriate dock and UTI's for calendars/email. They're both getting long in the tooth, though, and I seem to recall there was a Swift app out there to do the same thing as dockutil. Could anyone remind me what the name of the dockutil replacement was, or suggest more modern replacements? 

I have been using dockutil for years without issue. I have historically been putting the shell script in the Users/Shared/bin folder and the plist in the user LaunchAgent folder. Like I said, years have been working...Now that Python is not installed by default and using the newest version of Dockutil, I cannot get it to run. I have tried to get this to run via Jamf. I have used Jamf to dump the two files into their respective homes on the endpoint. Heck, I have even manually added the files to a target computer just for testing. All I get is an "unable to execute (path to .sh file) Operation not permitted. Hi everyone,i'm trying to setup Synology C2 Identity as our SSO provider for JAMF. I set up everything and i can actually authenticate an user during the enrollment. The problem is that the next step (local account creation) is pre-filled not with the username but with the email address as the local account name. This is strange because in that way the user home folder will be something like name@domain. Not really user-friendly.Is it something related to variable mapping? 

Hey Does anyone use Anyone use JumpCloud and Jamf Now?We have Jamf fundamentals setup and some of the features JumpCloud offers look useful.We don't use the Jamf Connect part of Fundamentals as yet. JumpCloud looks far easier to deploy to manage user accounts and passwords on 35ish devices.Any thoughts.

I manage a Web Clip for a team of engineers who use a CMDB solution (ServiceNow) for checking industrial & scientific equipment in the field. They do this on iPads using Safari. The CMDB solution is a cloud-based web interface, no third-party apps are required. Basically, I use MDM to push-out a Web Clip that tells Safari to open a specific private URL on the engineers iPads. We have realized that Safari renders the ServiceNow web interface incorrectly at times. Engineers are complaining of horizontal scrolling issues, zombied drop-down menus, etc. As of iOS 8.1.3, the issues are still not resolved. Both Apple and ServiceNow are aware of my issues. The good news is that we have discover that Google Chrome on iOS doe not exhibit the rendering issues. Thus, there has been discussion to pull the Safari Web Clip via MDM and push-out a new Web Clip that will force the engineers to use Google Chrome instead. Hi, Are there best practices for manually removing JAMF from OS X? I have already attempted "sudo jamf -removeFramework". But it appears that the uninstall didn't complete cleanly. There are still left over components. If I attempt "sudo jamf -removeFramework" again it results in a "sudo: jamf: command not found". Anybody have any ideas? All are appreciated. -Geoff

I have been working as a Mac engineer in a JAMF environment (no certs though) for many years, but when the pandemic hit us a couple of years ago I needed to change my job and found one in IT Security.Now I want to go back to being a Mac engineer badly, unfortunately, it's not that easy after over two years of break. In fact, I recently had an interview for an interesting position, and while somehow I managed to perform all the technical tasks during the interview, at the end of the day they've chosen a guy who was "more confident" in the JAMF environment. My question is - is it possible to somehow set up a JAMF Pro training/lab env without having access to an enterprise license to refresh my memory and keep myself "in shape" until i find a Mac engineering job again?
