Hi everyone,Hope someone can help me with the below issues I am having;I am trying to install a custom app which I got from a vendor in a .dmg format.  Within the dmg there is a .pkg file and then two script files called install.tool and uninstall.toolAs per guidance by the vendor I need to run a command to call the "install.tool" via a command and then add a parameter to point it to a server which we have running in our environment.  This all needs to happen before the actual installation takes place i.e. while the .dmg file is mounted and I think this is where I am going wrong or having difficulty to run the above script via command before the actual installation takes place.I have come across a few threads on here to use composer which I have done but I have not had any particular success deploying it via JamfPro. It seems weird, as if I run the .pkg file (which I got from composer) on the test I have Mac, the program installs fine but not via JamfProSorry my Mac

Hello very new to Jamf. Have set up in prestage enrollment a local admin account (with admin permissions) and was hoping to use that local account as the one required to make any changes. Also, have the box checked in the policy to require admin when installing/deleting apps However - when the macs go through enrollment and first user is prompted to create an account, it is set up as administrator. It can uninstall apps, send things to trash (after using creds) etc. I want this to be a standard account What am I missing?

Hi Everyone, How can I get the list of apps installed with Brew? I could not pull this list with Jamf Pro via script. Because the brew list command should work in the corresponding profile. However, I guess Jamf Pro doesn't run it in the relevant profile. Is there a practical method? I used the following commands;brew list --caskbrew list

Hi everyone, I just finished setting up Jamf Connect with my Jumpstart call and afterwards I discovered my users have to log in twice. We are using Okta as our SSO and that is setup and connected. But when I restarted the computer, I get the Mac login screen with my user name and my password works and I immediately have to login in with my SSO credentials again. Is this normal or can I get one of these screens eliminated?

I am writing a quick script to delete a file from our users computers. We have Jamf Connect on all computers currently.I'm using this script to get the logged in user:loggedInUser=$( scutil <<< "show State:/Users/ConsoleUser" | awk '/Name :/ && ! /loginwindow/ { print $3 }' )This used to work for us but now that we are on Jamf Connect it just shows the IDP user, not the local user. I need the local user in the variable because that is actually where Documents are stored for the user.Any way to extract the actual Local account that the user is logged into and avoid the IDP user?

We've replaced our lab computers with M2 MacMinis running Ventura and the package I set up to install the desktop background for the old computers is installing, but the config policy is not applying the image.  Do I need to replace the spaces with %20?  I didn't before.

When you change a config profile in Jamf and tell it to distribute to all what is the process that happens on the MDM side? Does it send a command to remove the original profile and then download and install the changed profile? or does it download the changed profile first, remove the original profile and install the changed profile? I am asking because the MDM profile I am changing effects the network settings (VPN) and most likely the network connection will be disrupted. If the changed profile is not first downloaded before the original is removed then I cant see how it will get the changed profile.

Hi all,We're encountering a random issue with the Jamf Connect login window hanging and preventing any interaction with the computer. The login window is gray, the spinning beachball spins, and we can't click on anything. To get around this we have to force shutdown the Macbook by holding the power button, then after starting up again, quickly click Local Login before the Jamf Connect login window can try to load.Any thoughts? I can't yet find anything in common between the users its happening to, other than that they've brought their Macbooks home, which should be fine and works for most users. Jamf Connect version 2.19 Build 4482 using Google LDAP2020 Macbok Air M1 on Monterey

I'm trying to follow the documentation for deploying SwiftDefaultApps in order to make Outlook the Default Mail Reader and Excel the default app for CSV files for our production fleet of over 300 MacBook Air M1's.I'm using GitHub - Lord-Kamina/SwiftDefaultApps: Replacement for RCDefaultApps, written in Swift. for material.  I am also referencing this article for deploying a script via policy Configuring a Mac’s Default Apps for Different File Types | apizz (wordpress.com). Here's my dumbed down verison of the script from wordpress:#!/bin/bash# Set default apps for usersSWDA="/usr/local/bin/swda"MAIL="/Applications/Microsoft Outlook.app"SHEET="/Applications/Microsoft Excel.app"### MAIL #### Default mail client$SWDA setHandler --app "$MAIL" --mail# mailto: links$SWDA setHandler --app "$MAIL" --URL mailto# message$SWDA setHandler --app "$MAIL" --URL message# email$SWDA setHandler --app "$MAIL" --UTI com.apple.mail.email### FILE TYPES #### .csv$SWDA setHandler --ap

So I open the network prefs, select the wifi interface go to the little cog wheel at the bottom and select "Make Service Inactive". Can somebody please tell me how to do this via the Terminal, or at least a script that I can push out via jamf or something? Oh, it needs to work on Mojave and higher macOS...

Hello, Has anyone been able to run Microsoft Intune Integration on Macbooks with Intel chips and Ventura OS?We tried to run the policy on Macbooks with Intel chips and Ventura OS but the integration doesn't work and the device will never get registered in AAD.We also tried with M1 chips, but there is no issue, on macbook with Monterey OS and Intel chip, the integration will work. The integration will stop at this step on intel devices with Ventura: We already tried with different browsers, deleting the profiles, using webview and reenrolling the device and everything else that could be found on the internet. Has anyone been able to make this integration between Jamf and Intune with this scenario? Thanks,Traian

Hi I am looking for a script to replace the Username in the inventory section with the Extension Attribute of "Last User Logged In".  In addition to add "@companyX.com" as a suffix to the user name.  This would help me greatly in getting Asset inventory for my company via Azure.  I am getting the Last User Logged In by Extension Attribute.  So if the "Last User Logged In" is john.doe , take john.doe and add @companyX.com and fill the Username in the inventory section as john.doe@companyX.com.  This would then poll Azure and I would get all the data I need.  Still looking for a way to not manually update the username field when deploying a Mac to another user.  My scripting skills are limited, apologies. Thanks,JT

What is the theoretical maximum limit of a Jamf Pro Cloud instance? Could the system support say, 50,000 devices across 12 locations? Combination of laptops and iPads. Edit: This is to settle a debate and not for practical application.

Is anyone having trouble with the Jamf Server logs not actually logging?   I have a support ticket open (CS0951135) for this because I think the log4j2.xml file is not setup correct, it was broken before in 10.45, but stuff has changed in that configuration file and it is even more broken in 10.46. I am in a windows server environment, and installed using the jamf windows installer. I am installing it on the D drive on my Jamf server and not on my C drive, but I am using the installer to do all of this, so not doing anything special.  Is there anyone else out there with windows using not the c drive for Jamf with this issue?

HiI've been using this function to decrypt api account password in one of my scripts, and i can see it failing to decrypt in some machines. Different versions of macOS, i really can't see a pattern. Anyone seen something similar?function decrypt_string() {apipass=$(echo "$encrypted_string" | openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -d -salt -base64 -A -S "$salt" -k "$passphrase" )}

<Disclaimer> New to Jamf here. I am finding after I enroll the devices into my inventory that I need to go into the profile that it is assigned in the scope tab, I have to click the save button for it to install. Save thing with pushing Apps to devices. I have the Apps in the device group but until I go into the App and save it, it just says pending.. Any ideas?

Does anyone have an example of pushing device specific configuration to a machine?Scenario: I'd like to populate a file on every laptop device that contains the content of certain extension attributes that are centrally defined and keep that regularly up to date when I make changes in the admin portal. Is there any means to do this? Everything I am seeing all seems to be geared around "shared" or "common" policies that are associated to machines/groups. I'm not looking to create 100 different policies each associated to one machine. I'm looking to populate based on actual attributes set on the device itself in the portal. Another way of looking at this - is it possible to have a policy that has "templated content" in it where the template values come from EA's set on the device?

There was an issue with 10.48.1 so there was no Windows installer.Curious if anyone updated to 10.48.2 yet.Jamf Pro 10.48.2 Now Available

I am a new user to MUT, and Im trying to update an Extension Attribute as a test. I'm in our sandbox environment. When I run MUT, nothing updates.I've pulled the logs, and every device I'm trying to update says, "PUT failed. 401." I've figured out through my own research that 401 = unauthorized. I've double-checked I have full admin rights with the account I'm using. I'm now wondering if it's how I'm connecting to the server.Has anyone else seen this issue? How can I resolve this?

We are currently looking to implement some preferences to Outlook. We have configurations to block users from adding personal emails but is there a way to report on how many users have personal emails added and how to remove them  Thanks

Hey JAMF Nation Community!I was exploring with my team and wanted to see if there's a way to block users from adding a personal O365 account to their Outlook via a plist. I've checked around JAMF Nation and online and haven't seen anyone bring this up. Just wanted to see if anyone has implemented a solution in their own environments? Thanks!

Hi :) Has anyone else found themselves looking for a smart group you know you created?Every now and again we will create a new smart group and it could be anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days and suddenly it is nowhere to be found! It happened again this morning; I created a smart device group and within an hour it was gone.Just me or goes the Jamf gremlin not like your smart groups either? 🙊 Thanks.

Does anyone successes to build the VM in Apple Silicon chip devices using VM Ware fusion 13.0,2, If so please guide me to create it successfully.

Hi everybody,Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.Quick question for all.. I have a remote user that keeps entering the correct password (according to her) on her Mac, but it doesn't work and would like to reset it at this point. However, the credentials for the admin account seem to not work either for some reason. Is there a way in Passcode Compliance in JAMF pro to reset the password on a Mac or disable it on her machine so she can enter the last PW? Thanks everyone.
