10.27.0 Self Service Branding Header does not work for Company Branding

RedWings

This is a small issue, but how 10.27.0 handles the Self Service Branding Header is not ideal for any company branding. Resizing the Self Service window distorts any image you have there. Not sure how this made it out of QA.

I want the old one back...

1000% agree with this. Not ideal at all especially when your background is of an actual object or a person/thing as opposed to just a random pattern or solid color/gradiant.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue. It's bumming my marketing team out.

Branding needs a real overhaul. As in, things like unique branding for Sites or other criteria as many companies now have multiple logos and it's too limited as-is...

I like the new layout in general, and not having any categories makes life so much easier (facepalm, sarcasm). But yeah, our branding doesn't look so nice when the user eventually resizes the Self Service window and the image gets stretched out of it's 2.98:1 aspect ratio... Yuck!

I turned off the branding header image. The stretching makes no sense, when it shouldn't be difficult to just clip the image based on the window size.

Its "stretching" because its not responsive to image size. This should be a easy bug to fix.

If Jamf could change to scale the branding header proportional instead of streching or compressing it's width, it would be okay for me.

Having the same problems with the macOS Self Service Store banner, too.

I think I have figured out the problem. I think whoever put the specs into the template for the default macOS branding header may have made a typo.

The specs given are 335x1000

I went forward assuming that it was 2, not a 1.

My specs are now 335 x 2000

This shows my photoshop document in the background and my Self Service in the foreground, so you can see that the distortion is gone.

So I say "TYPO - It should be 2000 pixels wide, not 1000"

@drioux I tried the 335 x 2000, and if Self Service is opened, and in its default size, it seems fine. However, once someone puts it in full screen or starts resizing it, it scales horribly.

Interesting, it does scale horribly. It seems tied to the dimension instead of being free floating or scaling properly

I do have a case open on this issue, and have given them this additional info. They have confirmed they are seeing the same thing, and the sizes appear to work also.

Curious if this is still an issue with 10.33? There's a "branding" fix listed, though it mentions "icon".

We updated from 10.26.2 to 10.29.2 to 10.32.2 yesterday.

I saved a Full Summary before the update, and after the first update, and after the second update.

These lines disappeared after the first update:

Do we get a t-shirt? 🙂

Today we discovered the Branding Header shows only if you have Home selected.

Yup. And now it is actually distorted right out of the gate, but now the art can get clipped as well!

The pixel dimension probably changed.
