Hello,

Has anyone had the /var/log/asl filled up will errors?
They are all range in size from 24k to 12gig.

Is it all right to delete these errors?
What causes them?

Thanks,

Jon

I had that before with Tiger Server, SQL was creating huge files. I
just deleted them, it will keep happening though.

syslog /var/log/asl/<pick one>

that'll print the log to stdout. then see what's recurring and that should give you an idea of your issue.

Thanks Eric

The log file is a created by Virex because I had the old 8.7 installed and
the new McAfee Ver 9 were installed.

Version 8.7 was trying to scan.

Thanks all

I second that. We used to run McAfee on all our Macs at one point. With
every engine release they got slower and slower. Switched to Clam and
it's like they are new all over again. What a difference it made.

I second THAT!

clamxav is what we're running. I couldn't deal with the sluggishness of
Office 2008 from VirusScan 8.6... and the login time was horrific.
