AD name change & Mobile Accounts problem

Hi all, this is more of a general Apple question than a JAMF question but I figured others must have run across this problem.

If we change a users logon account because they changed their name, they can no longer log onto a computer that has mobile accounts set up because that account doesnt match the mobile account name. I've tried different ways to change the name on the computer but sometimes I mess up Outlook's identities or the Keychain.

A technician in our office recently attended an Apple repair class. He showed me if you right click on a users name in Users & Groups, it gives you an Advanced option. It has the user's id, group, account name, full name, home directory (on computer) and the UUID.

Has anyone played around with these settings. As of now we have to backup & delete the existing mobile account, login with the new name to create a new mobile account and copy back their data.

Thanks

Mark

In my experience, you don't want to update any of those settings as you will likely break the user account totally. Renaming the current home directory and updating its permissions to reflect the new user account is probably your best bet.
